Growing up, Carl was always fascinated by the art of construction, and after gaining his qualifications, he took on a foreman role where he honed his skills while developing a relentless drive to excel in delivering quality builds.
Carl's path took him from Auckland, where he'd learned to navigate the fast-paced world of renovations and new builds, to the beautiful surroundings of Taupō, where he sought a better work-life balance for himself and his family. This move not only enriched Carl's personal life but also allowed Built Spaces to thrive, drawing on the lessons learned from a larger city while embracing the unique challenges of a local market.
Over the past twelve years, Carl has had the privilege of completing over 160 projects, specializing in architectural new homes and renovations. What sets Built Spaces apart is our unwavering commitment to quality, demonstrated through our meticulous 321-point checklist and the use of advanced 3D modeling and estimating software. When Carl is not on-site, you’ll find him outdoors spending time with his family, traveling, or enjoying motorsport and motorcycles. He believes that life is about creating memorable experiences, and strives to bring that same spirit to every project we undertake.
Meet Alex, a passionate award-winning Builder, Father of two, and co-owner of Built Spaces here in Taupō. From a young age, he would marvel at his father’s projects, from the houses he built to his home renovations, handcrafted toys and the treehouse every child dreams of. The craftsmanship and passion was passed down from his father and is now ingrained in him.
Alex grew up on the North Shore of Auckland, he was eager to work and learn a valuable craft so he started his building apprenticeship as a teenager. Many of his years in the city were spent renovating and restoring heritage homes, honing his problem-solving skillset and giving him a forward thinking, solution based approach to all challenges. The detail in these homes and complexity of the renovations gave Alex a great passion for bespoke and extraordinary projects. Alex believes it's the small details that set apart a great build.
Once qualified Alex started working for himself before starting Built Spaces with his brother Carl. By this time Alex had two young children and decided to move to Taupō to share his love of the outdoors with them. Alex's children have motivated him to strive to be the best he can be through all his experiences. This flows through to Alex's work ethic and drives him to deliver results through dedication and discipline.
Living and working in Taupō is fulfilling Alex's love for the outdoors and his passion of building many architectural, bespoke homes. Like our multiple award-winning home on the lake’s edge in Five Mile Bay. This result is a testament to our values of integrity, discipline, honesty and quality.
